This week my video project was to create a 30 second short on what motivates me. Lucky for me, I have been making an effort to stop what I’m doing and film when I see something that makes me happy. The video of hermit crabs at the beach, my desk collection of pretty rocks and other oddities that my kids have given me, and footage of the trees blooming in town all worked nicely for a pint-sized essay on things that make me want to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
I wanted this video to be as simple as possible. The little things that keep me hopeful don’t need a lot of fanfare.

I wrote a simple script and narrated it:
I have seven reasons to live and seven teachers of love.
The dandelion, the hermit crab, and the jumping spider are the currency
That make each of my breaths worth taking
My children mentored me in the intricacies of commodities trading
I trade time for an experience of waves gently breaking
I trade prudence for a walk under the blowing blossoms when I’m in a hurry
And I will die affluent because I blew off work to build a treasure horde of moments
